Features of caring for your own cosmetic brushes
The success of make-up for every day, for a party or for study depends not only on the quality of cosmetics and the skills of the master.
One of the main secrets of a good make-up is prepared brushes. It is worth applying the shadows with a dirty brush, as the perfect shading will be ruined. But sloppy eye makeup borders are not the main reason why you should take care of your own beauty tools.

We tell you why it is so important to wash your eyeshadow / blush / foundation brushes on time, and how to do it right.
Why is it important to clean your makeup brushes regularly?
Women who are far from the world of beauty believe that caring for tools is not so important if they are used by one person. “These are my personal brushes, how can I harm myself?” – this is how the majority argues. But, professional makeup artists have a different opinion on this matter.
The reasons

Regular and proper cleaning of makeup application tools is important for a number of reasons:
- this prolongs their service life;
- make-up gets more accurate and persistent;
- better preserved decorative cosmetics;
- skin problems caused by various infections can be avoided.
Individual makeup brushes are not immune to dust and bacteria that can “linger” in the villi. If you do not remove them in time from the surface, the application of cosmetics will be carried out along with them. Then rashes, itching, acne and other skin problems appear, which can be extremely difficult to cope with.
If the instruments are not for individual use, cleaning is mandatory before each use. Otherwise, the transfer of infection from one to another is inevitable.
How often to do it

Regular care of your own beauty tools, in the first place, will extend their life. It will also improve the quality of the makeup and reduce the likelihood of infection in this way.
Important: if the tool is not for personal use, processing is carried out after each use.
Experts recommend processing own tools at least once a week, and preferably two if they are used daily. The texture applied by a specific tool also matters:
- for crumbly textures, wash at least once a month;
- for cream products – 1 time per week.
How to wash makeup brushes

Caring for personal beauty tools is very different from salon disinfection. Since you are the only user of the brushes, cleaning is necessary first of all to preserve their quality and the possibility of creating a “clean” make-up. Particles of shadows, foundation, powder, etc. linger between the villi, worsening the appearance of subsequent makeup.
Brushes come in synthetic and natural bristles. Not only the scope of their application, but also the methods of cleaning depend on what material is used for.
natural pile

If the brushes are made of natural bristles normal hair shampoo is suitable for washing. The agent is “diluted” in a small amount in warm water. Then the instruments are lowered there and carefully washed. The main thing is not to rub hard and not to wring the hairs. Then you need to gently wring them out and put them on a disposable towel.
It is not recommended to hang instruments or leave them in a vertical position. It is best to let them dry completely horizontally. So the villi will retain direction, and the tool will last longer.
Synthetic pile

If makeup brushes made of synthetic bristles, they are usually used to apply creamy textures to the face. These are more densely clogged between the villi, so they require regular cleaning. Makeup artists recommend cleaning synthetic brushes 1-2 times a week with regular use.
To bring the synthetic make-up tool into proper shape, use soap. Some makeup artists add a drop of dishwashing detergent to the soap solution. It is believed that delicate cleaning will not remove the remnants of foundation, so a more radical approach is needed than in the first case. We also dry in a horizontal position without wringing the tail.
Washing technique
If we have decided on the means for removing cosmetic residues from makeup brushes, it’s time to study the technique of work. So, in order not to damage the instrument and keep it in its proper form, for as long a period of time as possible, we use one of the techniques:
- We rest large brushes with the tip in the palm of our hand and gently and scroll, having previously moistened in the prepared solution.
- We twist small brushes in the palm of our hand, folded in the form of a cup.
After – be sure to rinse under running water and gently “squeeze”, removing excess liquid. Then drying in a horizontal position or “upside down” if there is a suitable stand. If it is not possible to hang the brushes, lay them horizontally on a paper towel.
How do you know when it’s time to change your brush?
It is difficult to name the exact service life of beauty tools, since a lot depends on the regularity of their use and proper care. If you clean and dry brushes properly, they will last for years. You can understand that it’s time to buy a new one by thinning or “running up” in different directions pile.
Summarize

Makeup brushes are tools that require regular and proper care. If you do not remove the remnants of cosmetics, makeup will look sloppy. It will also increase the risk of infection and provoke the appearance of a rash, acne, itching and redness.
Special disinfectants for washing brushes, unlike caring for a manicure set, are not needed. Enough standard care products that are present in every bathroom.
Important: If the instruments are not intended for individual use, the cleaning scheme changes.
